After a full day on the links or hiking the miles on hiking trails on the property, the lodge makes a perfect place to unwind. Add to that their swimming pools, hot tubs calm nooks and crannies you need never leave. The grounds are filled with trees, plants and winding pathways. A pond with ducks and fountain occupies the center of the complex with a Japanese bridge spanning the waist as the waters flow out towards the golf course.

Breakfast and Lunch are served out on the gray stone tiled terrace with it's view over the pond. The Covey Restaurant also looks over the pond.
When we were there in 2000, the general manager was bringing the establishment back into the 5 star category. Under new management, many changes have taken place but they have not made it easy for us to cover again. Certainly, with the ongoing refurbishment, the lodging is superb and the housekeeping staff are top rate. Suites are available that connect to large standard rooms on each side giving families both privacy and grouping that is desirable.

When we sampled the food at the Covey Restaurant is was undergoing changes in direction and menu and while the food was good the service was not. Chef Gamboa who had just taken over the kitchens was bringing a new look and style to the plate and hopefully some control over his subordinates who wield the grinder. He plans a future spa menu both healthy and creative. He has a great advantage over many in his business in that the resort is located just a hundred yards from one of the largest organic farms in California, Earthbound Farm so he can pick the freshest, youngest herbs and vegetables. (see story click here)
So we feel we cannot properly comment on the cuisine as it exists today. But whatever it is, it will be upscale and of good quality in keeping with the rest of the establishment.
