Carmel-by-the-Sea is one of the most charming seaside villages in California. OK so maybe it is a little touristy, but not in the tacky, glitzy way so many destinations are today. It feels real, it is lovely to look at and be in. It is just the right size for stashing your car somewhere and walking anywhere you may want to go.
It is filled with stores, small shops, art galleries, tea rooms, restaurants of all persuasions, hotels fancy and modest. In short, all those places that make ambling and browsing such a pleasure and then a large choice of places to rest the feet and stuff the stomach.
It has a white sandy beach with a vicious undertow, rocks for the sea to smash itself against, overgrown, tree shaded residential streets and its own valley.

Carmel Valley is one of the few in California to run East-West. Small and intimate, with a well stocked mall at it's mouth, the rest of the valley offers world class golf courses, many fine vineyards, wineries and tasting rooms, old California countryside and the small village of "Carmel Valley" is pleasant and real and also is home to at least one excellent restaurant.
Monterey town is just a few minutes drive away with its Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf, Monterey Bay Aquarium, restaurants and many more land and sea activities.
September is the highest season. Summers are cool, fall and winter often quite mild.

A marvelous bistro in Southern California's Carmel Valley with some of the best cuisine in the area. Located in the delux Bernardus Lodge, the restaurant is junior to its more famous sibling "Marinus" but world class Executive Chef Stamenov is responsible for both.
Nestled in the gentle, rolling hills of the Carmel Valley, just a few miles inland from the CA Highway One, lies the beautiful and luxurious "Bernardus Lodge" and its delightful bistro "Wickets". Great chef, marvelous food and a lovely environment in which to enjoy it.

 A well appointed and very comfortable hotel right on Monterey Bay. World famous "Cannery Row" from John Steinbeck's novels runs along the inland face with part of the hotel, lap pool and spa on the other side. All the fun of Cannery Row is at your door with the "Fisherman's Warf" just a nice walk away and down town Monterey a bit further. New, modern and very comfortable hotel with all the latest technologies. It's own "C" restaurant is arguably the best in Monterey.
