Restaurant Les Voutes du Mont d'Or
(Formerly Dominique Bucaille)
Manosque, Haute-Provence, France

Peter and Linda D'Aprix 2006/7

A young Chef Tchekemian Remy from Marseilles by way of Cannes has bought the charming restaurant first staarted by chef Daniel Jourdan of La Fuste, (across the river from Manosque) that was taken over by his son-in-law one Michelin Star chef Dominique Bucaille and called "Restaurant Dominique Bucaille". Now it is known as "Les Voutes du Mont d'Or" and has established its style of Mediterranean cuisine according to its new owner and chef M. Tchekemian.

This change of hands took place over the winter of 2005-6, so we will update this coverage this spring.
In the meantime, we will leave up the photos since they still offer a glimpse of the restaurant whose decore has not changed.

The food is light and well prepared and conceived. All the dishes I had were excellent. The only drawback was that some of the ingredients were not of the best order, such as slightly tough lamb. But that did not affect the taste, just took a bit of chewing. Otherwise this is one of the best kitchens in Manosque, certainly woth the visit.

From what we have heard, chef Tchekemian has retained the quality that Daniel Jourdan brought to the restaurant when he opened it as an open plan rotiserie offering good quality, every day food at reasonable prices to tourists and locals alike and then Dominique Bucaille brought with his Michelin star. And yes, the prices are still reasonable with prix fix menus at 18 and 39 Euros. Manosque needs such a restaurant. Its main problem has been the parking which is very little.

"Les Voutes du Mont d'Or" translates to "the vaulted arches of the golden mountain" which aptly describe the warm, golden interior of this lovely restaurant.
