This section covers the north central part of France. We don't have a lot in this area since most of our coverages are in the south. One reason for this is that Paris, like most large cities, does not offer dog friendly environments with some rare exceptions.
However, we often stay at hotels either at Charles de Gaulle airport at Roissy or out in the country. Some of the further flung hotels are where we stay on arrival; the hotels at the airport are our choice on leaving since they make it easy when flights are delayed, rental cars can easily be returned etc.

Our favorite hotel on arrival is just 3 hours drive from the airport in Chablis (see Burgundy). But some that we covered too many years ago to recommend to you as a full story is in Barbizon, a charming artists' village south of Paris. Another is Bernard Loiseau also under Burgundy about 3 hours from Paris.
In time, we will rectify our omissions in Paris, but there are so many well known hotels in the popular guide books that they are hardly secrets. The same can be said for the restaurants from Alain Ducasse to the affordable bistros of many famous chefs.
